"Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." - Confucious
I am a robotics and AI engineer with a PhD in Assistive Robotics.
MY Background (Last updated: Feb, 2014)
As far back as I can remember I wondered and asked questions about the nature of reality such as:”What are the laws of nature and how can we utilise them intelligently?”. “What is intelligence and can we replicate it?”
In my high school, I came 7th in the 2007 National Olympiad
Competition which was designed to select students to represent the country in the International
Mathematics Olympiad (IMO). Furthermore I joined the robotics society and was later responsible for programming the robot that won silver and
bronze at Info-matrix Competition in Romania and BURC International Science and Engineering Fair in
Turkey.
Currently I am studying in Imperial College London where for my final year undergraduate project, I have built an unmanned robot and would design the embedded system and communication protocols. I would also develop a custom navigation and control system using D* algorithm and a predictive control regime. My work would involve heavy programming in C++, ROS and python in a Linux environment with version control using Git. For other coursework, I would also do some practical work in real-time embedded systems and high performance computing. My third year project was on localisation of an aerial vehicle where I was the project manager. Please find attached the link to this project in which we got a first. My specific contribution was PCL/kalman.cpp where I designed and coded the main Kalman filter engine behind the localisation module. Furthermore, I have done a software engineering internship at Google UK and an undergraduate research at my university.
Apart from academic activities, I have taken several leadership positions from Assistant Head Boy at my secondary school and Team Leader for most of my university group projects to various posts held within societies such as Events Organiser at Imperial Entrepreneurs Society. I have also attempted two ambitious trials to start up a company with team-mates: one in my first year during a start-up competition organised by YouGov where I was selected as one of the 30 participants amongst 250 other students including those in PhD level. In the second start-up which I am still involved in as a marketer and advisor, my team qualified to represent the UK in an international start-up competition called TIE Business Plan Competition. Both start-ups are in the technology sector.
